The Nissequogue Fire Department was activated for a house fire on Smith Lane off Moriches Road. Units arrived and quickly extinguished a fire in a hallway closet. Fire damage was confined to the closet and smoke damage was minimal in the house. There were no injuries. Mutual aid provided at the scene by the St. James and Nesconset Fire Departments. All units were cleared from the scene within an hour. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety are investigating the cause of the fire.
