Suffolk County Police Third Squad Detectives are investigating at traffic collision that resulted in serious injuries to a pedestrian in Central Islip.  At approximately 2000 hours, a teenage girl was crossing Wheeler Road near the Central Islip High School when she was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue, heading southbound on Wheeler Road.

The 13 year old female from Islandia, was transported by Central Islip Hauppauge Community Ambulance to Southside Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded by police for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
