2125 Hours. The Hauppauge Fire Department is dispatched to 70 Commerce Drive in regards to a waterflow alarm. Units arrive to find the sprinkler system operating. Crews enter the building and encounter a smoke condition. After a search, fire damaged equipment is found within an IT/Server room, having been extinguished by the sprinkler system. Crews ventilated, shut down the sprinklers and overhauled the area. Fire damage was confined to the piece of equipment in the server room. Yet again, sprinklers minimize damage.

Smithtown Fire Marshals are working with the Hauppauge Fire District Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.
