Hauppauge Fire Department and Central Islip Hauppauge Ambulance respond to 3045 Express Drive North in regards to a traffic collision. One of the vehicles overturned and slammed into the TGI Fridays sign on the lawn. All of the parties involved refused rescue. FD personnel secured the vehicle and turned the scene over to Suffolk Police.

Pole fire in Hauppauge

1642 hours. Hauppauge Fire Department responds to a pole and wires on fire in front of 83 Lincoln Blvd. Engines 1 and 4 stood by until PSEG arrived and secured the power. At that point the fire was extinguished. The source of the fire was an underground service wire that travels from the ground to the top of the pole.

Small basement fire quickly extinguished in Nesconset

Nesconset Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 32 Midwood Avenue. Units arrived to find smoke pushing from a two story private dwelling. All of the occupants had safely evacuated and were uninjured. FD personnel stretched a line into the basement and quickly extinguished the fire. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown are handling the investigation.

Early morning house fire in Hauppauge

0202 hours. Hauppauge FD is dispatched to a report of a house fire on Swallow Lane. Units arrive to find an active fire in and around a single car garage attached to the south side of the house. Lines were stretched and crews made quick work of the fire. The two adult occupants escaped unharmed after being awakened by smoke detectors. Assistant Chief Ron Walker was the incident commander and operated with units from Hauppauge, Commack and the Smithtown Fire Departments. Commack Amublance, CI/Hauppauge Ambulance and an ambulance from the East Brentwood Fire Department were also on scene. The cause of the fire is being investigated by Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown, the Hauppauge Fire District and Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad.
Setauket, Centereach and St. James respond to Stony Brook house fire.

Stony Brook FD is dispatched to 43 Hawkins Road on a reported house fire. Units arrive to find fire showing out of the upper level of a two story wood frame private dwelling. Crews stretched in and mutual aid was requested. Setauket FD sent numerous units, St. James was requested for a RIT, and Centereach sent an engine. The fire was plced under control within a hour.
Smithtown, Nissequogue, Kings Park and Nesconset deal with brush fire in Caleb Smith State Park.

1524 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to a brush fire in the eastern section of Blydenburgh Park off Brooksite Drive. Assistant Chief Diecidue arrived and found a large area of fire. Mutual aid was requested from Kings Park, Nissequogue and Nesconset FD's for their GI's. Nissequogue also sent a tanker. Units cleared from the scene at approximately 1900 hours.
Hauppauge FD-Vehicle fire on the LIE

0957 hours. The Hauppauge Fire Department is dispatched to a vehicle fire on the westbound side of the LIE between exits 57 and 56. Crews arrived to find an involved auto on the shoulder. AFFF and multiple dry chemical extinguishers were needed to extinguish the stubborn blaze.
Commack goes to Brentwood house fire.

1200 hours. Brentwood is dispatched to a house fire. PD arrives and advises of heavy fire in a two story private dwelling. Multiple lines are stretched and two master streams are deployed. Numerous propane tanks vent.
Islip, CI, Commack, Deer Park, East Brentwood, BLA and Bay Shore FDs all provide mutual aid. The house is a total loss and is demolished by the Town of Islip.
Matthew Conforte-Commack FD, Town of Smithtown Fire Marshal Passes

The Commack Fire Department suffered another loss, Honorary Chief Matthew Conforte. Matty volunteered and served the Commack community for over 58 years. He served as a Captain and a Commissioner. As a Veteran of the Korean War and Commack Firefighter, Matty dedicated himself by selflessly giving back to his Country and community. Matt was also a part time Fire Marshal for the Town of Smithtown. He will be missed by all.

Setauket and Stony Brook FD's tackle shed fire.

1453 hours. Stony Brook and Setauket Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a shed fire at 57 Aspen Lane off Acorn in Stony Brook. Stony Brook FD Chief of Department Scott Roberts was first in and advised of a fully involved shed in the rear yard. 2 lines were stretched and operated on the fire and protecting the house. The fire was extinguished without incident. EMS evaluated one of the residents. Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals were called in to investigate.
Deck fire in Ronkonkoma

Ronkonkoma FD is dispatched to a report of a house fire at 14 Ethan Lane. Engine 10 is first due and advises that they have smoke showing. Assistant Chief Murray is right behind them and on arrival advises that they are stretching on a burning deck that is attached to a dwelling. mutual aid units from Nesconset (Engine) Lakeland (engine) and Farmingville (ladder) also respond. The fire is quickly extinguished and after some extensive overhaul, the scene is turned over to the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshals.
Sprinklers hold fire in Hauppauge Commercial building

0518 hours. Hauppauge Fire Department is dispatched to a water flow alarm at 735 Calebs Path off Old Willets Path. Units arrive to find the sprinkler system operating and smoke pushing out of the building. Crews entered the building and found a high pressure oil fired boiler burning. A two and one half inch hand line was stretched and the fire was extinguished. Mutual aid was requested from Smithtown, Nesconset and Brentwood but all were cancelled while en-route. The Town of Smithtown Fire Marshals office and the Hauppauge Fire District Fire Marshals are handling the investigation.
