2149 hours. Dix Hills Fire Department is called to respond to a reported house fire at 30 Wildwood Drive. Units arrived to find an active fire in a three car garage attached to a two story private dwelling. While crews went to work, mutual aid was requested from the Deer Park Fire Department for a RIT, Wyandanch Fire Department for an engine and the Melville Fire Department to cover. While en-route, Melvilles engine 2-5-7 was re-directed into the scene and the Commack Fire Department was requested for a covering engine. Crews stretched two hose lines to deal with a heavy volume of fire in the garage and the fire extended into the attic of the house. The Greenlawn Fire Department sent an ambulance to the scene. The fire was placed under control at approximately 2230 hours.  Suffolk Police Arson Squad Detectives are investigating.

0140 Hauppauge Fire Department responds to a vehicle fire on the LIE Exit 57-56 Westbound. Units arrive to find  a fully involved 1996 Toyota Camry. Engine 1 & 3 operated under the Command of Lieut Sean Fallona. The male operator was uninjured but the vehicle was destroyed.

Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday, December 14, 2019. The St. James Fire Department will once again play host to Santa Claus and his friends for the 39th annual “Festival of Lights” Christmas and Holiday Parade. 

1752 hours. The Setauket and Stony Brook Fire Departments are dispatched to 1 Neal Path in the Fairfield Gables Apartment Complex (Setauket Fire District) in regard to a water flow alarm. Crews arrive to find an active fire in a multiple dwelling with the fire sprinkler system operating. A line was stretched in and the fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was confined to one room. Additional mutual aid was provided by the Port Jefferson Fire Department (ladder), Centereach Fire Department (RIT), Terryville Fire Department (engine) and St. James Fire Department to cover. Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals are investigating. 

1244 hours. Ronkonkoma, Farmingville and Nesconset Fire Departments are dispatched to a house fire at 66 Geery Avenue in Ronkonkoma. Ronkonkoma Assistant Chief Diaz was first in and encountered a basement fire impinging on the ground floor of a one and a half story wood frame dwelling. Additional mutual aid was requested from the Holtsville Fire Department for a truck to the scene, Lakeland Fire Department for an engine, Holbrook Fire Department for a RIT and Centereach Fire Department to cover. The St. James Fire Department sent an ambulance to the scene. Crews stretched three lines and operated two and had water on the fire within 10 minutes of the alarm being dispatched. Hoarding conditions within the house made their work quite difficult. The fire was placed under control at approximately 1320 hours. Fire Marshals from the Town of Brookhaven are investigating. 

2045 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to the area of Plymouth Blvd and Old Northport Road in regard to smoke in the area. Units arrived and after a quick search, located a vehicle burning in the yard of Winters Brothers on Lawrence Road. The location of the vehicle required a long hose stretch but crews had the fire extinguished within a few minutes. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown and detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad are investigating. There were no injuries. 

1200 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a house fire at 1 Lindron Ave off of Plymouth Blvd. Units arrive to find an active fire in a stove in the kitchen of a single story private dwelling. The fire is extinguished, the range disconnected and the house vented using mechanical fans. Chief 31 operated with two engines, a heavy rescue and Commack Fire Deparrtment ladder. All FD personnel secured from the scene at 1239. There were no injuries.

2048 hours. The Smithtown Fire Department was called to respond to Old Northport Road and Meadow Road in regard to people stuck in a vehicle in flood water. Units arrived and found that the incident was further west on Old Northport Road,  in the Kings Park Fire District. FD personnel in dry suits waded into the water and removed three subjects from two vehicles . There were no injuries. The roadway remained closed while crews from the Smithtown Highway Department pumped the water out.

1445 hours. While operating at an automatic fire alarm on East Main Street, the the Smithtown Fire Department is dispatched to the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in regard to a child with their finger caught in a clip board. EMS units arrived within minutes and requested a response from Heavy Rescue unit 4-2-9. FD personnel were able to cut away the clipboard rather quickly. Units cleared from the scene within 20 minutes. 

2328 hours. The Nesconset Fire Department responds to a report of a traffic collision on Townline Road near Mark Drive. While crews were en-route, the call was upgraded to an overturn with entrapment. FD personnel arrived to find that a vehicle had struck a utility pole and was now on its side in the road. FD personnel broke out the rear window and removed the occupant, who suffered minor injuries. FD personnel stabilized the vehicle and turned the scene over to the Suffolk County Police. 

1222 hours. Commack Volunteer Ambulance is dispatched along with the Commack Fire Department to a report of a motor vehicle collision on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway south of Jericho Turnpike. Units arrive to find a crash involving two pickup trucks, one of which had overturned. All of the occupants had self extricated and all claimed minor injuries. FD personnel secured the vehicles and helped remove debris from the roadway, while CVAC personnel handled patient care. The Parkway was closed for approximately 45 minutes.

0354 hours. The Stony Brook and Setauket Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 94 Manchester Lane in Stony Brook. Units arrived to find a active fire in a two story private dwelling. Crews searched the house and then forced entry into a single car attached garage where they located the seat of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, the garage and house were vented and the fire area was overhauled. The scene was preserved and a request was made for the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshals Office. According to the Stony Brook Fire Department, the Fire Marshal determined that this fire was a result of a carelessly discarded cigarette.

0136 hours. Ronkonkoma Fire Department is dispatched to a traffic collision on the LIE near Exit 61. Units arrive to find that a single vehicle had left the roadway, overturned and was in the woods. FD personnel and Suffolk PD extricated the occupant who was then transported to the hospital via ambulance. 

0725 hours. Suffolk Police 6th precinct officers roll to 57 North Washington Ave in regard to a report t of a disturbance. The officer arrives and notes that there is an active fire within the house. The officer evacuates six occupants from the house while requesting the FD. Centereach Fire Department is activated shortly thereafter. Arriving FD units encounter heavy fire throughout a one and one half story wood frame dwelling. Crews knocked down the fire from the exterior with master streams and then entered the building with numerous hose lines to complete extinguishment. Mutual aid was provided at the scene by the Setauket Fire Department (engine), Nesconset Fire Department (RIT), Stony Brook Fire Department (engine) and the Selden Fire Department (engine). The Ronkonkoma Fire Department sent an engine to cover for Centereach for the duration of the incident. The fire was placed under control by Chief of Department Mayzus at 0903 hours. The last FD unit cleared the scene at 0955. The house is a total loss. Fire Marshals from the Town of Brookhaven and Suffolk Police Arson Squad Detectives are investigating. 

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a woman for Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after she was involved in a crash in Lake Grove with three children in the vehicle.
 
Jordan Godfrey was driving a 2018 Hyundai sedan southbound on Hawkins Avenue, near Patricia Lane, when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole at approximately 5:35 p.m. Four passengers in the Hyundai, Gail Block, 75, of Islip, and three children, ages two, three and seven, were transported by the Ronkonkoma Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The children were released to the custody of a parent at the hospital. Godfrey was not injured.
 
Fourth Squad detectives charged Godfrey, 22, of 11 Hollo Drive, Holbrook, with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
Godfrey is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on December 5.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
